Biography of Sioban
Biography | The origins of the band go back to Tournai in 1995 under the denomination n « Metric 14». In summer 1996, Metric 14 gives a first concert in its native town. Their repertoire was composed primarily of covers. In 1997, following the arrival of Régis Planque and Dave Snappe, the name of « Sioban » is adopted. This name is inspired by the heroin of the comic strip «La complainte des landais perdues» by Rosinsky and Dufaux : SIOBAN was a symbol of the purity. The first compositions were rather directed towards soft rock. At the beginning of 1998, the arrival of Meet V. Defresne involves them in more progressive grounds: a compromise is found between the experimental ideas of Thierry and the melodies of Meet. Thierry leaves the band at the end of 1999. The new keyboard, Damien (ex D.F.T.P.)made his entry in 2000. Following the interest caused by their compositions, they decide to rent a house together and to live under the same roof. They start to compose their first demo « Free-thinker». In 2001, they sign with LaBraD'Or Records and the recording of the album begins in 2002. In 2004, after the publication of the E.P. « So Perfect », Meet and Damien leave the band.
Sioban is reformed later. At the base of neo-prog influence, the arrival of Black to the song and another approach of the composition caused a turn with 1350° to move towards a rock more purified accompanied by a hot and husky voice pointing out alternative bands of the Nineties. Respective musical affinities of the members also contributed to this radical change. |
