Biography of Plackband Biography | Plackband was formed in the years '70 in Den Hague. At their beginning, the music of this band moves slowly towards the symphonic rock with keys of jazz rock. Later their sound was influenced by Genesis and Yes. The band obtained the nickname of « The Hague's Genesis ». Their scenic performance always were worth success and recognition to them.
After the departure of the singer Keiss Bik,the band dies out in 1982. All the members of Plackband work on their side, Ronald Brautigam and Michel Van Wassem creates the November band (with Edwin Wernke, drummer of For Absent Friends) and releases the album «The 1st of November». In 2000, Ronald and Michel speak more and more to reform Plackband; it's when they promote the release of their CD which they realise that many people never heard spoken about November but that they knew all Plackband. At the time of the publication of the article about Plackband in the Dutch prog magazine IO Pages and of the failure of the release of the second album of November, the members of Plackband renew contact together and accept with enthusiasm a test to get formed again. After one year of repetition, all the original members of the band take again some concerts. They call then upon several recording companies and choose the label Xymphonia Records with which they release again their first EP of 1978 then a new album in 2002 «After The Battle» . This album was qualified like a success by the magazines throughout the world. Thereafter the group separates from its singer Keith Bikand the choice of a new singer is established on Karel Messemaker, ex-singer of November. This new singer brings a fresh impulse and for the first time in their history, the band makes sometimes covers of Genesis and Peter Gabriel in the style of Plackband. Since May 2005, birthday of Prog-Résiste and ofSpirit of 66, they take again on scene a song of our regretted Pierre Rapsat: «L'enfant du 92ème».
Since the beginning 2007, Plackband continues to four: they are in phase of composition of a new album. |
