Biography of Moonkind

Moonkind

Biography

Click to zoom the imageThomas Bourgeois (drums) and Yves-Raphael Leclercq (guitar) play together since their adolescence within several metal bands.
At the end of 2003, Yves-Raphael meets Henri Soughikan (bass player) and after having confronted their various influences, they decide to assemble a project with a very progressive orientation.
In all logic it is Thomas who has to hold the drums, while Yves-Raphael will also hold the place of singer.
The band seeks himself and takes the name of Moonchild which will very quickly become Moonkind.
Two female singers join the small band (Vanessa and Virginie) and the work of composition can finally start.
The first title will be called  «God and me» , it lets predict the future concept adopted by the band.
To complete the line-up the band seeks a clavierist, who will arrive in 2004 in the person of Julien Coleau.
His influences (The Doors, Marillion) come to complement wonderfully those of the other musicians and the songs grow rich naturally: Moonkind becomes a band of progressive metal.
In August 2005, the band loses its singers and seeks actively for a new singer.
As early as September and thanks to Internet (hurrah! For the small as), Henri-Christophe Foucher integrates the band.
Yves-Raphael can now fully concentrate himself on his work with the guitar by holding however the role of chorus-singer.
Several pieces are quickly composed while the old ones are adapted to the song of Christophe.
In June 2006 Moonkind records a 3 titles demo entitled  «glance on the world ... regard sur le monde...», entirely own-produced.

The concept of Moonkind is based on on a pun: moonkind which word for word means “kind of the moon” and mankind, humanity.
Moonkind would be thus a humanity sister, alive on the moon and observing its elder from further away faults.
In short it is a means of taking a little retreat, to observe us and to announce the small errors of humanity, its small through.

The influences are very diverse and mainly “metal” but are completed by all those which enchant each member.
e can thus find there some influences from progressive  (Pink-Floyd, Marillion), blues, funk, punk, jazz, world music and even of the classical.
