Biography of Kofeee  Biography |  No vapors of arabica or smoke from Amsterdam, Kofeee means « Kilometers OF Electric Eclectic Elipses ».
Five musicians who have nothing in common, no nothing and it is what functions best! From unremitting clubbing to the sweat born from hardcore, from folksongs to the mathrock mixed with jazz, from N-Y noise to Scottish heaviness, the whole with a Belgian, surrealism? As if Mars Volta met Sonic Youth, as if Jeff Buckley met Zappa... as if you meet Kofeee, a combo implying four musicians from which the tastes are diametrically different.
Most astonishing, it is that the meeting of all their influences (which oscillate of the hardcore to the folk while passing by the jazz, the No wave, the metal, the prog, the psychedelism, the post and the math rock, etc) holds the road perfectly and never skids in the cerebral or experimental universe.
Hefty man (literally as in the figurative sense), Seb plays guitar in a very instinctive way. Obviously, it is him which gives the way to be followed, even if the other musicians do not hesitate to bring their personal colouring to the compos. Compos well built, likely to take pleasure in introspection before taking rhythm, then to give up itself in a certain sound violence. A whole program!
Formed in 2006, the band has just released a5 titles EP - recorded into only 1 capture, which confers him a more natural aspect and a play built like a succession of collages and improvisations.
These experienced musicians have already a solid approaches to the stage thanks to their old formations: From Dour Music Festival to Les nuits du botaniques, en passant par un foule de salles belges... while passing through a lot of Belgian venues… where they could play with bands like Ghinzu, Hollywood Porn Stars, The Tellers, Zita Swoon, Hulk, etc. |
