Biography of Headline  Biography |  Since its formation in 1994, Headline serves a progressive and melodic music to us.
Their first album «Escape», released in 1997, mixed already power and melody with for principal and new advantage in this style: a feminine voice, Sylvie Grare.
Following an acoustic tour of the FNAC, the band rearranges its titles and releases these versions at the end of 1998 on «Escape Thru The Lands» which gathers acoustic live, an unpublished work and covers of bands like Queensrÿche and Yes.
The second album «Voices Of Presence»,released in November 1999, presents 11 titles co-produced by Robert Kohlmeyer (Superior, Vanden Plas, etc) and Didier Chesneau.From this opus perhaps more ambitious, will release « Trilogy »,title in three parts with an orchestra, whose group will turn its first clip « The Message (Trilogy II) » which will be diffused on MCM.
The good reception made to this opus, even abroad, allows them to tour in 2000 with Dream Theater, Vanden Plas, Stratovarius and Rhapsody.
At the beginning of 2002, back to the studio to work to what will give «Duality», ”, third album of the band. By mutual agreement Headline wants to make its music more direct while keeping a progressive climate. The ingredients are there: we find powerful rhythmic (Dirk Verbeuren from Scarve at the drums and Christophe Babin at bass), the «aggressive» guitar of Didier Chesneau and the keyboards of Aymeric Ribot, increasingly atmospheric which support harmoniously the voice of the singer Sylvie Grare.
Without being a concept album, all the lyrics deal with anger and duality that she engenders (for instance beside manipulations, death, handicap...).
The video of «Exorcise me», filmed by a young director, Stéphane Roland, see Sylvie (sometimes a hawk, sometimes in human form) attempting to escape from an exorcist appearing sometimes like a wolf.
In 2003, Headline is elected best French band (the video won the award of the best metal video) by the referendum MCM/Hard Rock Magazine.
This nomination give them the opportunity to play with Shaman, After Forever, Evergrey and to take part of the Symphony X European tour.
Back to studio, we are waiting the successor of «Duality» during the year 2008 (temporary title : «Follow the Headline»). |
