Biography of Amphitryon

Amphitryon

Biography

Cold and untouchable beauty, intoxicating, lyrical, dreamlike… The music of Amphitryon is rich, very rich: guitars of a heaviness abyssal, rhythmic tribal and symphonic, classical music and extreme metal mix in a majestic way, and what to say about these songs? The quality of vocal is exceptional: arrangements non standard, a death song enormous and terrifying, a lyric, soft and ethereal female song, harmonizations of sublime voices and mysterious choirs which inspire something sacred.

From My Dying Bride to Septic Flesh while passing by Magma, the influences are of course large, going until the African culture or that of ancient Greece, but it is however difficult to compare the group with other bands.

Amphitryon on stage is an example of their style. The production is impressive, an astonishing charisma. The band delivers a show in front of a public which gathers the whole of the generations as well as the two sexes in a religiosity, a hypnotic devotion, being able to echo  Dead Can Dance or Magma

Originating from Boulogne-sur-Mer, in the north of France, Amphitryon initially knew to affirm his name in the Underground scene thanks to«l'Entremonde», first EP recorded in 2001, marvelously accomodated by criticism as being carrying a new, very promising sound and of great quality. The band is consequently perceived as a future big name of the French scene, true gifted hope already of a great control.

Released in 2007, «Sumphokéras» is based upon « Le cycle d'Ephapsaménée », the epic and fantastic short stories written by Matthieu Scarpa, the works of the painter Daniel Péron and those of the photographer Rémi.

Thomas Vikström, singer of  Therion, made a point of congratulating Amphitryon for his performance at the RaismesFest 2007:

"Hello guys!!
Just wanted to say thank u for a great gig in Raismes!!
I was watching your gig and I think it was fantastic!! Thank you guys!!!"
Thomas V (singer in Therion)
